David was the son of Paswell & Mary E. Diel Isenhour and was probably named for his uncle, David D. Diel.
He married Alpha Retta Hollingsworth, the daughter of John & Rebecca Campbell Hollingsworth. The couple were the parents of Laura May Isenhour and Grover Cleveland Isenhour. Mrs. Isenhour passed away, in 1909.
Mr. Isenhour moved to Richmond, Indiana. He married Phoebe (nee McDonald) Peters on April 19, 1924, in that city. She was the daughter of Levi & Ann Kilmer McDonald and the widow of Samuel L. Peters. Their marriage lasted nine months, before the couple separated, and, later, were divorced. Mrs. Isenhour requested that her former married name of Phoebe Peters be restored. Following their divorce, Phoebe went on to marry, at least, two more times.
