Poet, Novelist, and Essayist. She was one of Denmark's most famous poets, and is best known her poetry collections "det" (1969) and "alfabet" (1981). A writer who built experimental poems, essays, and novels around systematized and mathematical structures, she won the Austrian State Prize for European Literature in 1994, the Swedish Academy's Nordic Prize in the same year, the European Poetry Prize in 1995, The America Award in 2001, the German Siegfried Unseld award in 2006 plus she received numerous other recognitions as well. Christensen was frequently mentioned for the Noble Prize in Literature. Her works have been translated into several languages.
