Union Civil War Soldier, Prisoner of War. He served with the 28th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Companies B and F. He was captured at New Market, Virginia on May 14, 1864. He died while a prisoner at Andersonville on Oct. 25, 1864 of scorbutus. There is cenotaph in honor of him affixed to the side of his family's monument at Spring Grove Cemetery in Hamilton County, Ohio. His last name on his grave marker is misspelled as Ella.
