Mary was born “about” July 14, 1842. Her name was Pottorf OR Bottorf, as the obituary lists both ways. There was a Mary Pottorf, daughter of Wm and Henrietta in the 1880 census at that place and born about the same year.

Miss Mary Pottorf died at Salona, Monday, aged 47 years. Her funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock.

An Elderly Maiden’s Funeral.
Miss Mary E. Bottorf, whose death occurred at Salona on Monday, 18th inst., at 9:30 a.m. of cancer, was aged 46 years, 8 months and 4 days. Her funeral occurred on Wednesday afternoon from the residence of her parents, and the remains were interred at Cedar Hill cemetery. The sincere thanks of her relatives are extended to all friends and neighbors who rendered assistance during the illness and after the death of the deceased.
