CAIN MATHIS was the son of Alexander Mathis and Mrs. Judea "Judy" (Mathis) Williams. He is the stepson of Ned Williams.

His known siblings were Henry Mathis, Wade Mathis and Albert Mathis.

He married Miss Margaret "Margie" Guinn in 1887. To their union, fifteen (15) children were born.

Sadly, Margie preceded him in death in the spring of 1928.

On August 4, 1928, he married again to Mrs. Ellen Thompson Clark (the widow of Lewis A. Clark). Their union was the second marriage for both of them.

He preceded his second wife in death.
