The Hamtown Cemetery, formerly known as the Hoffman Cemetery, is located on county road #535 approximately one and one-half miles west of T Highway. The land joins the Hamtown Church site on the south. The cemetery got its name from the Hoffman family that owned the property at the time of the first recorded burial in 1868. On May 31 1890, Hoffmans deed the property to the community.
The cemetery name was changed about the time the Hamtown Church was built. Land joining the cemetery on the north was deeded in 1912 for a Union church in the Hamtown vicinity.
