Carolyn Clements "Peaches" Abney, 91, resident of Wesley Commons, widow of Joel Richard "Dick" Abney, Jr., died May 10, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Mitchell County, GA, October 11, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Susie Carolyn McDaniel Clements. Mrs. Abney was reared in the home of her aunt, Alma Houck in Florence, SC. She was a 1942 graduate of Florence High School and attended Limestone College in SC and Brenau College in GA.
Mrs. Abney is the last member of her immediate family.
Surviving are her four children, Joel Richard (Gretchen) Abney, III of Myrtle Beach, Benjamin Cade Abney of Saluda, NC, Mary Melinda Abney Whitton of Lake Powell, FL and Charles Sidney "Sid" (Mindy) Abney of Pawleys Island; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, John David Abney and her three brothers.
A private Family Remembrance will be held at a later date.
