Vera L. Trim was born near Pence, IN on December 16, 1926 to the late Aaron and Lena (Claypool) Hoskins.

On September 18, 1948 she married the love of her life, Charles A. Trim Jr., who preceded her in death on March 17, 2005.

From early childhood Vera participated in many spelling bees, plays, and later in oratorical contests. She graduated in 1945 from Union Township where she was first in her class. At the age of 16 she became a member of the La Porte Church of the Nazarene. She volunteered there as a Sunday school teacher, music worship leader, sang in the choir, Missions study secretary, a steward on the church board, and even worked for a while as the church's custodian. Her favorite hobbies were working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, reading and baking.

Vera began her working career as a switchboard operator for "Ma Bell". After the arrival of her first baby she became a full-time stay at home wife and mother. Many years later she returned to the work place and became the Coordinator of Patient Accounts at the La Porte Hospital, where she was employed for 22 years until her retirement.

Surviving are daughter, Carolyn of Independence, MO., son, Rev. Rodney (Connie Jo) of Adrian, MI., two granddaughters, Erin (Mat) Guisinger of Walbridge, OH, and Jennifer Oberle of La Porte. She is also survived by three sisters, Violet Wurtsbaugh of Attica, IN, Lorraine Bealor of La Porte, Tola (Wayne) Haley of Dwight, IL., step great grandchildren Aaron and Emily Williams of Adrian, MI, several nieces and nephews, and very special friends, Harry and Georgia Wolter of Michigan City.

In addition to her parents and husband preceding her in death were her son Jeffery, her sister Dorothy Eileen Morgan and brothers Rev Ray, Wayne, Glen and Ronald Hoskins and a grandson Seth Trim.

Special appreciation goes to all the nurses and staff of VNA Hospice of Porter County, Especially Gail, Sarah and Nichole who took such excellent care of Vera during her final stage of her life and were helped by her daughter-in-law, CJ who stayed at her side for several weeks. CJ was accompanied by her dog Cami who Vera referred to as her "four legged fur nurse."

Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., LaPorte, IN where the family will receive friends Saturday, May 27, 2017, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. A life celebration will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Saturday May 27, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Rodney Trim officiating. Interment will follow at the Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Family Life Center of the La Porte Church of the Nazarene or to the VNA Hospice of Porter County.
