Violet Marie (Hoskins) Wurtsbaugh, age 95 of Williamsport, IN died at 9:10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at the Mulberry Health where she had been a residence since March 2018. Violet was born in Danville, IL on April 12, 1923. She was the daughter of Aaron and Lena (Claypool) Hoskins. She was a 1940 graduate and valedictorian of Williamsport High School. She later graduated from Danville Jr. College receiving a degree in stenography and then from IU South Bend, majoring in Computer Science. She married Lee A. Wurtsbaugh on August 16, 1942 in Rockport, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1966. Violet lived in Williamsport before moving to South Bend for 17 years. She then moved to Lafayette for 17 years and returned to the Williamsport area in 2013. Violet was the legal secretary for Alan Sharp, Attorney and later Litzenberger & Litzenberger. She was the financial administrator for the Northern District Federal Court in South Bend, IN. She was an active member of the Williamsport Christian Church, previously serving as a VBS and Sunday School teacher. She had also sang in the church choir. Violet was an accomplished seamstress and past Cub Scout leader. Surviving are, children, sister, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, son, Jerry Lee Wurtsbaugh, 4 brothers, Rev. Raymond Hoskins, Wayne Hoskins, Glen Hoskins, and Ronald Hoskins, and 3 sisters, Vera Trimm, Eileen Morgan, and Tola Haley.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating. Interment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamsport Christian Church.
