Catherine Manwell, age 88, died at 8:00 a.m., Sunday, November 21, 2004, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was born March 17, 1916, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Walter and Stella (Ratajcak) Kania. She married Roy Sylvester Manwell on May 28, 1938, in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and VFW Post 3925. She enjoyed visiting and the outdoors where she especially enjoyed yard work.
She is survived by her three daughters, Catherine Hilkens of Erie, Carol (James) Nagel of Erie, and Sue (Dale) Courtney of Las Vegas, NV; two sons, Robert (Jackie) Manwell of Ottawa Lake, and Thomas (Lynn) Manwell of Dearborn; three sisters, Jeanette Finger of Clearwater, FL, Dorothy Morris of Dayton, OH and LuAnn (Robert) Forche of Toledo, OH; and a brother, John (Wilma) Kania of FL; also twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 29, 1993; her parents and four brothers, Stanley, Walter, Casimere and Wesley Kania.
Friends may call Tuesday, November 23, 2004, from 3-8 p.m. at the Erie Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home where the VFW Ladies Auxillary will have a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9 a.m. with Mass to follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Memorial Donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
