Charley W. Stroud, 102, longtime Leaf River resident, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, in Pinecrest Manor, Mt. Morris. Born April 13, 1915, in Fordland, MO, the son of John and Amy Alice Stroud. He was a World War II US Army veteran. Married to Christina Emmeline Lawson March 19, 1938, in Marshfield, MO; she died September 23, 2006. Charley was employed as a welder at J.I. Case in Rockford for 22½ years and then for 7 years at Wood's in Oregon, retiring in 1977. He loved fishing, gardening and lawn work.
Survived by his son, John Edmond Stroud of Leaf River; daughter, Geraldine Trenholm of Rockford; grandchildren: Ted W. Trenholm, Patricia A. (Kevin) Weber and Samantha (Rick) Aylard; great- grandchildren, Kyle, Myia and Asia Weber, Katelyn Trenholm, Amanda Torkelson, Savannah Marsili, and Cassandra Aylward; great-great-granddaughter, Karyann Joy Weber; and sister, Opal Gossman of Arizona.
Also predeceased by his parents; grandson, John A. Trenholm; and 12 siblings.
Private family graveside services will be held in Lightsville Cemetery.
A memorial fund is established.
