Gene was born in Macon,GA to Carl Talmadge Prince and Ethel Virginia Crosby Prince. He was baptized at age 14. He and his first wife Mary Lea "Peggy" Croft Prince had 6 children together before divorcing. (George E. Prince, Elmer E. Prince Jr., "Jerrie" Geraldine Prince Warren, Brenda Ruth Prince Causey, Sherry Mae Prince Danis, and Bobbie Jean Prince Kenison) He quickly remarried Lil Prince and subsequently divorced. He joined the Navy and eventually served as a Aviation Machinist Mate 3rd Class. He worked for Columbia Nitrogen. He later married Eunice King and they shared almost 23 years together before his passing.Gene Prince died as a result of lung cancer he believed as exposure to asbestos.

THOMSON, Ga. - Mr. Elmer Eugene Prince Sr., 79, beloved husband of Mrs. Eunice Prince, died Friday, October 18, 2002, at his residence. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 20, in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens with Dr. James C. Elder Jr. officiating. Mr. Prince, a native of Bibb County, had lived in Thomson for several years. He served in the U.S. Navy for 5 years in World War II. he retired from A.S.C.I. Columbia Nitrogen in 1988, as a supervisor. He was a Baptist and attended Thomson First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eunice K. Prince, Thomson; two sons, Elmer E. Prince Jr., Atlanta, and George E. Prince, Maysville; two daughters, Jerrie Warren, Lula, Ga., and Bobbie Jean Kenison, Eustis, Fla.; a step-son, Kenneth Appling, Thomson; and 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Combs, Allen Amerson, Edward Smith, Douglas Combs, Eddie Combs, Bill Aiken, Bill Brown, John Dobbs, Bill Andrews, Ralph West, Bill Weber, and Jim Moates. Friends may call at the residence or at the Curtis Funeral Home.
