Wm. Butler was born in Belmont county, Ohio, 1830, died at his home in Sarahsville, this county, June 15, 1898. The funeral took place at 2 pm same date and conducted by Howman Hostetler of the Church of Christ at Caldwell, who spoke words of comfort to the bereaved family. Mr. Butler was a pioneer of Noble county, performing hard labor in felling the forests, breaking up the soil, and opening the way for homes, schools, churches, and all modern facilities. He died in the faith once delivered to the saints. A wife and three sons remain to mourn his departure.

After several weeks of intense suffering from dropsy, William Butler departed from this life June 15, at his home in Sarahsville. He was 68 years old and was one of the early settlers of this county. The funeral sermon was preached by Elder Howman Hostetler by request of the deceased. Interment in Sarahsville cemetery. The widow and three sons have the sympathy of many friends and neighbors.
