Mamie McCauley was the daughter of Samuel and Anna (Betz) McCauley. Her father was an emigrant from Ireland and her mother from Marienburg, Austria. They married in Pennsylvania in 1861, coming to Loring, IA in 1868. Her siblings preceded her in death:

3. Harriet Melba [A.H.] Koch, b. 28 Sept. 1908 in Maxwell
4. Elinor May [Weaver d.] Connelly, b. 03 May 1911 in Ames
They lived with her sister Elizabeth in Ames until her death.
