Eujennie, of Vidor, passed away Saturday at her residence.

A native of Wolfden, Texas she had lived in Vidor for seventy-six years and was a retired self-employed bait camp owner for ten years.

Preceded in death by her husbands Elray Johnson, Sr. and Thomas O. Ardis, survivors include sons Elray Johnson Jr and David L. Johnson; daughters Peggy Peevey, Cassie Deromie, Barbara Eubanks, Linda K. Groves and April R. Farmer; nineteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.
Daughter of Mattie Herrin Brown and Oscar Brown. Married Elray Johnson. 7 children-Elray jr,(m. Marcia Stinson) David, Peggy,(m. Alfred Richards-2nd m.Ike Peevey) Cassie,(m. Michael Deromie) Barbara,*m. S.T. Eubanks) Linda, and April.(m. Robert Farmer) Worked hard. Loved her family and God. Mother was born in Wolfden, tx, her family moved from there to the Orange, Texas shortly after 1930. After 1940 they moved west of Vidor, to a place called Ross's Ridge. Her maternal grandparents were Tom Herrin born 1859 in louisiana, and Dell Perkins. Her paternal grandparents were Henry H. Brown and Margaret Smith. Loved being surrounded by family. She was a treasure and a living history book, who could tell you family stories you loved listening to.
After more research, I have traced her Herrin line back to Abel Herrin, b 1785 N.C.,William Herrin sr, William jr, Thomas, Mattie. William Herrin sr. married Prudence Stark.
Mother was a wonderful cook. She worked nursing homes in the 60s.Later, she opened her bait shop on Bunn's Bluff. she enjoyed the outdoors. She was a member of the Rose City Tabernacle and enjoyed going.
