Lanelle Moore Abbey, 81, died Sunday, May 28, 2017, at Pontotoc Extended Care. She was born June 25, 1935, in Brooksville, MS., to Pierce Elisha and Eva Dean Triplett Moore. She was a graduate of Brooksville High School and Mississippi University for Women. She married her husband, Robert Morris Abbey, in 1960 in the Charleston Presbyterian Church. They made their home in Webb, MS. She was a member of Sumner Presbyterian Church for 43 years. While living in Webb she served as Home Economist in Tallahatchie County for 8 years. She was a retired second grade teacher in the West Tallahatchie School District. She served as president of the Charleston Business and Professional Women's Club and President of the Webb Twentieth Century Club. In 2007 she and her husband moved to New Albany where they became members of First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Monday Morning Circle and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Baptist Memorial Hospital Auxillary.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017, at First United Methodist Church in New Albany with Rev. Tim Prather and Rev. Amanda Gordon officiating. There will be a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sumner, MS. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. United Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by 1 daughter: Lillian Abbey Parks of New Albany; 1 son: Randall Morris Abbey of Madison, MS.; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Vaughn of Indiana and Dorothy Banks of Brooksville, MS.; and 3 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: Robert Morris Abbey.
