Bill was a volunteer and co-worker of mine, when I was the Assistant Tour Director, at the Henry Ford Estate in Dearborn. He played Santa Claus for the children when they came for the Christmas Program at the Estate with his wife Ruth, as Mrs. Santa Claus. He had been a volunteer at the Henry Ford Estate for over 20 years.
He was married over 56 years to his wife Ruth and he is survived by his Children and many Grandchildren. It was a real honor to know him, he worked for Ford Motor Company. Bill enriched my life with his wonderful stories, and was a very kind person. He came with his wife Ruth from New York when Ford Motor Company moved them. Bill worked in Marketing and other departments of Ford Motor Company.
He was in the Coast Gaurd during WWII, and was serving off the coast of Normandy during the invasion. When he saw the movie Saving Private Ryan, Bill stated "He was having nightmares again of the bodies of American Soldiers that the Gaurd was picking up from the Battle of Normandy out of the ocean". Their mission was to retrieve all the bodies that floated to the Coast Gaurd boats from the battle.
