Stephen was born in 18 Mar 1881 in Nagy Moha, Hungary which is now Granari, Romania. He was the son of Mihaly and had 2 brothers Michael & John that stayed in Hungary. Stephen & Elizabeth had 5 children together: Andrew, Stephen, Elizabeth, Margaret and Louis.
