Martin L. Elder, Sr. died at Veterans Hospital at the age of 78.
He was retired from American-Standard where he had worked for almost 42 years. He was an Army veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 229.
He was survived by his wife, Virginia B. Elder; his daughters, Dorothy Ennis and Josie Boyd; his son, Martin L. Elder, Jr.; his stepdaughter, Joy Johnson of Muldraugh; his sisters, Martha Bohannon of West Point, Kentucky, Molly Holt of Birmingham, Alabama, Clementine Bryan of St. Louis, Missouri, and Flora Dennis of Raleigh, North Carolina; his brothers, Pat Elder of St. Louis, Missouri, Merrill Elder of Tampa, Florida, and Alfred Elder; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 18, 1975 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park.
McDaniel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
