Elizabeth T. Tunnessen, 96, of Hazleton passed away Thursday in Schuykill Medical Center, South Jackson Street, Pottsville.

Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Elizabeth (Alasko) Yuhas and was a member of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish at St. Joseph's Church, Hazleton.
She was married to her husband, William G. Tunnessen for 58 years prior to his death in 2004.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents and husband, were her daughter, Patricia A. Layman; her granddaughter, Bonnie Shigo; brothers, William, Joseph, Cyril, Edward, John and the Very Rev. Cassian Yuhas; and sisters, Marie Pridmore ansd Anna Tomsho.

Surviving are her daughters, Theresa J. Shigo and her husband, John, McAdoo; Regina C., Brown, Mechanicsburg; Mary R. Tunnessen and her husband, Harold Nunamacher, Sugarloaf Township; Cynthia A. Gronski and her husband, Mark, Hazleton and Lydia Anne Georgantis and her husband, William, York; her son,William G.M. Tunnessen and his wife, Sandra, Drums; sister, Bernadette Oslovich and her husband, George, Illinois; grandchildren, Robin Layman, Kristina Cussatt, John Shigo III, Timothy Shigo, Sheri Johnson and her husband, Michael, Kristen Brown, Kari Beets and her husband, Joshua, Paul Gronski and Hope and Emma Georgantis; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Ss. Cyril and Methodius Parish at St. Joseph's Church.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Drums.

The family will receive friends Monday in the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
