BANGOR - Mary (Callnan) Anderson Brockway, 72, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 17, 2017. She was born on May 17, 1945, in Houlton, the daughter of Carmel (Hogan) and Lewis Callnan.
Mary's mother died when she was young and her aunt, Elizabeth J. Callnan, returned home from Massachusetts to help her brother, Lewis, raise Mary and her younger brother, Michael. Mary attended St. Mary's School, graduated in 1963 from Houlton High School, and attended Chamberlain School of Design in Boston. She returned home in 1964 and was married to B. Duane "Skip" Anderson living in Littleton for many years. She was later married to Roy Brockway of Houlton. Mary has lived in Bangor for the last 15 years. Mary enjoyed her volunteer work, helping others and had a special way of being there to support those in need. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards with her friends, planning special events, but most especially spending time with her family. She will be missed by her special friend, Will Jackson and many of her dear friends who lived near and far.
She is survived by her children, David Anderson and Liz Leonard; several grandchildren; brother, Michael Callnan; sisters, Lisa Saulter and Julie Bartlett; several, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Kate Anderson.
Friends may call 8-9 a.m. on Thursday, June 22, at St. Mary's Visitation, 110 Military Street, Houlton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held 9 a.m. with Father Dave Raymond, celebrant. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. An interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in Mary's memory to American Heart Association, 51 US Route 1 Ste. M, Scarborough, ME 04074.
