PHYSICIAN'S SON, 9 DIES; SEEK CAUSE
An autopsy was planned Friday to learn the cause of the unexpected death of Carl Leland Kalmbach, 9-year-old son of Dr. and Mrs. Roland E. Kalmbach who died about 5:23 p.m. Thursday at the home.
Young Kalmbach, a student at VerLinden ave. school, was ill at home with the flue, and was watching the family television set when stricken. The fire department inhalator administered first aid and the boy was removed to St. Lawrence hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival there.
The boy was a regular attendant of Sunday school at Westminster Presbyterian church and holder of a perfect Sunday school attendance award. Because of his interest in the Sunday school, Dr. and Mrs. Kalmbach suggested contributions to the church in his memory.
Besides the parents, he is survived by two sisters, Jean and Mary Jo; a brother, Roland, Jr.; and the grandmothers, Mrs. John Kalmbach of Chelsea and Mrs. Ernest Hoke of Lansing.
Private funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gorsline-Runciman funeral home. Rev. C. M. Mullenburg of Westminster Presbyterian church will officiate. Burial will be in Deepdale cemetery. Pallbearers will be Robert Campbell, Ray L. Abbot, Weston Knaup and Ronald Brodberg.
