COLUMBUS -- Edith Joyner Horne, 81, died Sept. 5 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born in Crawford and lived in Columbus since 1949. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church.
Edith was an Army Medical Corps veteran of World War II. She retired in 1979 as a registered nurse from Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning. She was the widow of retired Army Sgt 1st Class Charles C. Horne Sr.

SURVIVORS: a son, Charles C. Horne Jr. of Columbus; a daughter, Debbie Ward of Metter; three sisters, Ruby Goodlett of Columbus, Willie Mae Elkins of Byron and Ethelyn Pirkle of Americus; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL: was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, burial in Riverdale Cemetery. -Savannah Now, Sept 1999
