Ernst Resch was a German artist. Born in Meissen, he studied art in Dresden, and settled in Breslau in 1838, where he primarily painted portraits in the Biedermeier style. He was active in the Silesian Society of Arts and lectured in painting, becoming a professor of art in 1860. Among his students was the famed landscape painter Adolf Dressler.

Gravesite Details

Gravesite lost during cemetery liquidation. Resch's tombstone was discovered in Osobowice Cemetery in the 1980s and is currently in the city museum in the Royal Palace. It is currently the only known surviving gravestone from the cemetery.
