Nina Lewis Baxley
(November 3, 1930 - June 28, 2012)

Mrs. Nina Lewis Baxley age 81, of Ross Drive, Boaz, Alabama, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Marshall Medical Center South.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in McRae Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Pettijohn officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. McRae Funeral Home of Boaz, Alabama is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Baxley was born in Alabama on Nov. 3, 1030 to Coleman & Callie Smothers Lewis. Nina grew up in the Blackwoods Community near Headland, She graduated from Newville High School in 1948 and married the love of her life on July 29, 1950. Having lived in Enterprise, Kissimmee, FL, Huntsville, Kwajelin Island and most recently Boaz, home was wherever they were together. They made lasting friendships in all of those places. Nina was very active in church activities and loved serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a Gray Lady in the school clinic years ago. She took pride in being a homemaker and loved baking, sewing and all types of crafts. Not only was she a treasured wife and mother, she was a precious friend to many.

Mrs. Baxley is survived by her: Husband: Herbert Baxley of Boaz, Daughter & Son-in-Law: Rita & matt Remson of Albertville, Grandchildren: Carissa Simmons, Charlie Baxley and Logan Remson, Great Grandchildren: Harrison Baxley, Everett Baxley Ryan Simmons and Zach Simmons, Brothers: Bill Lewis of Texas and Fred Lewis of Enterprise, Sister: Janice Bell of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son: Glenn Baxley. Pallbearers will be Charlie Baxley, Logan Remson, Terry Baxley, Jerome Baxley, Matt Remson and Robert Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be the Lydia Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Boaz.

Thank you for your prayers and support during her extended illness. Special thanks to the Nursing staff of the ICU Unit at MMCS. The family has requested no flowers and suggests donations to the First Bapt. Church of Boaz Building Fund or a charity of your choice.
