JESSIE B. HANRAHAN

Jessie Agnes (Baudendistel) Hanrahan, 96, passed away in her home, peacefully, on July 14, 2017. She was born on June 19, 1921, in Deposit, New York, to the late Arthur and Jessie (Mosher) Baudendistel. She graduated from Deposit Central School in 1939, as Salutatorian. Though she was born in Deposit, she resided for a number of years in Rochester, New York. She worked for the Burroughs Corp. as a secretary, and later as an account clerk in the West Irondequoit Central School District. She and her husband, Thomas, returned to Deposit upon their retirements.

She enjoyed playing the violin and had studied with Abram Boone at the Eastman School of Music. She also played the piano. Her interests, in addition to music, included knitting and needlepoint. She made many hand knit items for family members. She enjoyed cooking for her family, always looking for new recipes to try. She especially enjoyed spoiling her grandsons and great-grandchildren.

Jessie is survived by her daughter, Sarah M. (Gilbert) Evans, of Deposit, and four grandchildren and their families: Matthew and Elizabeth (Wolmarans) Evans, Wurtsboro, New York; Andrew Evans and Danielle (Marchione) Evans, Bronxville, New York; Nathan and Ashley (Willis) Evans, Columbus, Ohio; and Peter Evans, Deposit, New York. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Simone, Danae, Amelie, Isla, and Liam. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Rita (Hanrahan) Baudendistel, of Windsor, New York, and also leaves behind many loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Hanrahan, in 2013. She was also predeceased by her sister, Kathryn; brother, Arthur (“Jim”); son-in-law, Hilton, and grandson, Patrick.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, where she performed as an organist. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters, VFW Auxiliary and the Deposit Garden Club.

The family will receive family and friends at the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church Parish Hall, Second Street, Deposit, on Friday, July 21, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Gerald Buckley on Friday, July 21, at 1:00 pm with burial at Pine Grove Cemetery following the Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Parish Hall Building Fund in Mrs. Hanrahan’s memory. Checks may be made out to the Parish Hall Building Fund; please place her name in the memo of the check and forward to: St. Joseph’s-Deposit, 975 NY Rt. 11, Kirkwood, NY 13795.
