Ella Avendano, age 89, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away at 2:35 pm Tuesday, January 27, 2009 in Swedish American Hospital. She was born November 26, 1919 the daughter of Mateo and Blaza Medina in Agua Caliente, Mexico.

Ella lived 55 years in Rockford, coming here from Mexico. She married Antonio Avendano Sr. in Rockford February 18, 1955. He predeceased her August 23, 2007.

Ella was employed by Nelson Knitting and Sports Styles for several years. She was a member of St. Anthony Church. Ella loved to be with family and friends, and she was famous for making her special pepper sauce for son Joe and friends.

Survivors include: sons, Antonio Avendano Jr. and Joseph (Cynthia) Avendano; daughter, Mary (Chuck) Kittoe; grandson, Adam Kittoe; brother, Vincent (Fran) Medina; sisters, Jean (Victor) Teran and Mary Medina; nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend, Julie Scott.

Ella was redeceased by: parents; husband; sisters, Tonnie Quevedo and Antonia Navarro.

Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 31, 2009 in St. Anthony Church. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
