GREENVILLE, WV --- John E. Ballard, 85, of Greenville, WV passed away Saturday evening, July 22, 2017 at Springfield Center in Lindside following a short illness.
He was born at Rock Camp, WV February 24, 1932 a son of the late Roland and Mabel Copeland Ballard.
He was a retired carpenter, a member of the Crimson Springs Church at Zenith and a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Frances Virginia "Ginny" Ballard on July 30, 2006; 2 brothers, Dewey and Homer Ballard.
Surviving is his wife, Madeline C. Lively Ballard, 2 daughters, Carolyn L. Brown and Dr. Harry, Sherry B. Nichols and Glenn; 2 sons, John Edward Ballard and Christy, Jason L. Ballard; 2 step sons, Glenn W. and Wade E. Lively; 3 grandsons, Adam C. Ballard, Harrison C. Brown and Logan C. Blakley; 3 step grandsons Johnathon, Todd and David Blanton; 2 sisters, Kathleen Simpkins and Elizabeth Hall.
Funeral Services will be held 1 pm. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel at Union with the Pastor Jimmy Rogers and Pastor Allen Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellison Cemetery at Rock Camp.
Friends may call at the Groves Funeral Home in Union from 12 noon until service time.
