Trina Gottsch Rathmann

At the age of 81 years Mrs. Herman Rathmann, a resident of this community for 55 years, died at her home west of Fort Calhoun on Feb. 16, 1935.

Frena Gottsch was born in Propsti, Germany, on Oct. 1, 1854 and came to America in 1880, locating in Ft. Calhoun, where on August 9, 1882 she was married to Herman Rathmann. She and her husband began housekeeping on the farm where she died. Her husband died in 1925. She is survived by five children; Mrs. Louis Lorsch, Henry, Laura and John of Ft. Calhoun, and Mrs. Mary Baumer of Benson; one brother, Jacob Gottsch, of Ft. Calhoun, one sister, Lena Behmer of Syracuse, and six grandchildren. She was a good and loving wife and mother and a helpful and friendly neighbor.

The funeral services were held in the Ft. Calhoun Presbyterian church Monday afternoon, with Rev. R.H. Prentice officiating and burial made in the Ft. Calhoun cemetery.

Miss Trena Gottsch was born in Prospsti, Germany on October 1, 1854. She came to America in 1880 direct to Fort Calhoun. On August 9, 1882 she was married to Herman Rathman and settled on the home place where she lived until her death February 16, 1935. She reached the age of 80 years, 4 months and 15 days. She was a good and loving mother and well liked by all who knew her. Her husband passed away ten years ago. Surviving are five children: Mrs. Mary Bauman of Benson; Mrs. Louis Borsch, Laura, John and Henry of Fort Calhoun; one sister, Mrs. Lena Behmer of Syracuse, Nebr., and one brother, Jacob Gottsch of Fort Calhoun and several grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, Rev. R. H. Prentice officiating. Burial was made in the local cemetery. Out of town people attending the funeral were Mrs. Lena Behmer and Mrs. Frank Miller of Syracuse, Nebr. Miss Alvena Hagelstein and Adolph Schroeder of Omaha.
