MRS. HENRY MARTIN

Mrs. Henry MARTIN passed away May 7 at the home of Mrs. WOOTEN, 2746 W. 26th avenue, in Denver, where she had been taken from the Colorado General hospital two days before. Mr. MARTIN had been with her on Wednesday and had returned to Steamboat Springs on Thursday morning with A. W. Heyer and O. A. Saunders. Mrs. WOOTEN accompanied the body to Steamboat Springs Friday. Mrs. MARTIN had been ill since last November and was in the hospital for several months, being treated for heart trouble which was the final cause of her death.

Funeral services were conducted at the Catholic church in Steamboat Springs Monday at 10:00 o'clock in the morning under direction of A. W. Heyer. Rev. Father J. J. Meyers was in charge of the service. The regular church choir, Mrs. Frank Muench, Miss Imogene Heid, Henry Heid, Margaret Fick and Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Fick sang the Requiem, Aeternum Parce Domini and Lead Kindly Light. Mrs. Smith was organist. She played Nearer My God to Thee while the funeral procession left the church. There was aprofusion of beautiful flowers presented by friends of the family as tokens of regard. Pallbearers were Robert ETZLER, C. M. DALE, Frank SQUIRE, F. H. NICHOLS, Jerry STEVENS and Perry CLARK. Interment was in the Steamboat Springs cemetery.

Mrs. MARTIN is survived by her husband and three children, Gilbert 10, Howard 9, and Gladys 6. Her mother and two brothers are living in New York City.

Della Hoag MARTIN was born in New York City in 1893. She was married to Henry MARTIN February 18, 1920, in New York City. They came to Routt county soon after the wedding and have since made their home on their ranch near Milner. They had been friends since she was 15 years of age and had help up a correspondence until their marriage. Mr. MARTIN had been located in Routt county and went to New York to bring his bride back with him.

Mrs. MARTIN had an unusual experience as being one of the survivors of the Titanic shipwreck. She had been on a visit to Germany and was returning to her home in New York City. She was always loath to speak of the tragedy.

In the passing of Mrs. MARTIN, a family is bereft of a devoted and loving mother and wife, a real homemaker. Her life was wrapped up in her home and children. While she was in the hospital her thoughts were continually with her loved ones. Within a few minutes of her death, she had been planning what she would do when she returned to her home. While her children will know her presence no longer, her influence will live with them and be a loving memory.
