William H. Howell Jr., 80, of Chapmanville, WV, left his earthly home for his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 surrounded by his family at Dignity Hospice House in Chapmanville, WV. William was the son of the late William H. Howell Sr. and Nancy Louise (Akers) Howell. William lived a life of hard work and faithful service to his family, community, country, and the Lord. William was saved at the Stone Branch Church of God and later attended the West Logan Church of God until his health prevented him from doing so. William proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. Later in life he was an active member of the American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville. In addition to his military service, William was a member of the United Mine Workers of America and retired from Westmoreland Coal Company.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Johnny and Howard, and an infant sister as well as his mother- and father-in-law, Lorraine and Lester Brumfield, both of whom loved him like a son. William left the love of his life, Judith (Brumfield) Howell, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage with. Born to their union was on son, Gregory Scott Howell, later joined by a daughter-in-law, Janet Jones. His other survivors include: his dear sister Jean Henry and her family (husband Don and daughter Teresa) of Fort Myers, FL; sisters in-law Nelda Howell of Hedgesville, WV; and Jean Howell of North Canton, OH; his two grandchildren, whom he loved more than words can express, Crystal Dawn and husband Michael Beck of Bloomington, IN, and Garrett Storm of Chapmanville; several brothers- and sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews; his best friend since childhood, Paul Craddock; special caregiver Angie Stollings; and brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Janet Gore.

Friends and family members are invited to call on Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 6-9:00 Pm at Freeman Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Danny Brumfield at Freeman Funeral Home on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Pallbearers include Garrett Howell, Roger Gore, Michael Beck, Brad Estep, Mark Brumfield, and Mike Brumfield Honorary pallbearers include Paul Craddock, Donald Jude, Roscoe Adkins, Philip Meade, and Jason Blankenship. Graveside services, including military rites, will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery Pecks Mill, WV.
