He was born in Lumberport Jan. 8, 1928, a son of the late Angelo and Antoinetta Allegretto Contento.
He was married to Sally Ann Perri Contento Sept. 21, 1957, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Carol Mckisic and husband Jim (Mac) of Clarksburg, Anna Marie Contento of Pittsburgh, PA, and Barbara Jo O’Donnell and husband Mark of Mandeville, LA; three grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth, Keegan Brody and Kiefer Ian; one sister, Mary Contento Minard and husband Joe; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Contento Spencer of Hazard, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his only brother, Vito Contento of Hazard, KY.
Mr. Contento was a graduate of Victory High School and was employed as a clerk at the B&O Railroad in Clarksburg for many years. He was an active member of the St. James Catholic Church in North View and a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he frequently worked Thursday Night Bingo and helped with cooking the dinners.
Family and friends may call at the Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort Monday from 2-8 p.m., where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 2107 Pride Avenue, Clarksburg, with Reverend Father Akila Rodrigo as Celebrant. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
