She is gone from us now, but, she will be remembered for many years to come. She was an active lady despite her years. In her church, she led devotionals and sometimes played the organ. She was a devoted wife to her husband John and a source of delight for her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Only 2 weeks before her stroke, she was participating in line dance class with her granddaughter. Over the years, she and John taught many people how to line dance and square dance.
It seemed that no obstacle was too great for her. When John purchased an old burned-out movie theatre, she rolled up her sleeves and worked alongside him to completely re-build it. It didn't matter to her that they were both more than 60 years old. They continued to run the theatre for more than 20 years.
Mabel passed away in the place she had chosen to retire, in the presence of those that loved her. She will truly be missed. Rest well Mizz Mabel, rest well.
