Elizabeth D. Burchell, age 92, of Woodbridge died on September 25, 2009 at Potomac Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Aubrey Burchell.
Mrs. Burchell was originally from King George, Va. where she was a member of Potomac Baptist Church. The family moved to Woodbridge, Va. in 1956 when both Mr. and Mrs. Burchell began working at the Lorton Reformatory. After retirement they moved to Ladysmith, Va. and spent winters in Florida. Mrs. Burchell returned to Woodbridge upon her husband's death where she lived the rest of her life.
She is survived by two daughters, Alberta Schoolmeester of Roanoke, Va. and Betty Strawderman of Woodbridge, Va.; one son, Alan Burchell of Fredericksburg, Va.; two half-sisters, Shirley and Delores both of Michigan; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Road, Woodbridge, Va. on September 30th, 2009 from 6 to 9 p.m. A life celebration service will be held at the funeral home on October 1st, 2009 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park.
