Charles Joseph Chase, 72, of Volga, Iowa died Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Regional Medical Center in Manchester, Iowa.

Charles was born August 3, 1944 to Lester and Dorothy (Hermen) Chase in Oelwein, Iowa. He graduated from Central High School and also graduated from Universal Trade School of Omaha, Nebraska.

Charles was united in marriage with Janice Meader on February 14, 1965 at the Presbyterian Church, Volga, Iowa.

He worked as a painter at Henderson Manufacturing in Manchester, Iowa for thirty-two years and then was a supervisor there for another ten years.

He enjoyed golfing and was an avid outdoorsmen. Charles was a member of the Clayton County Archery Club and member of the Volga United Methodist Church. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs.

Charles is survived by his wife, Janice Chase of Volga, Iowa; His children; Lori Coonfare of Volga, Iowa and Jill (Mark) Waterman of Strawberry Point, Iowa; grandchildren, Lisa (Nick King) Beatty of Monona, Iowa, Emily (Malorie Winter) Hallock of Mason city, Iowa, Joe (June Herold) Hallock of Volga, Iowa, Lucas Coonfare of Volga, Iowa, Markeia Waterman of Strawberry Point, Lisa (Jeremy) Brown Dundee, Iowa and Todd (Natasha) Waterman of Farmersburg, Iowa; ten great- grandchildren; one brother, Willis (Schelvie) Chase of Volga, Iowa; sister-in-law, Nancy (Duane) Berger, many nieces and nephews; and six grand-puppies.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Dorothy Chase; brother, Kenneth Chase and his sister, Ilene Eder.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, August 7, 2017 at United Methodist Church, Volga, Iowa with a visitation one hour before services at the church on Monday. Rev. Dennis Gilbert will be the Officiant.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, Volga, Iowa.
