Ebenezer Stockton (c.1790-c.1828), a son of James and Mary Stockton, and a descendant of Richard "The Emigrant" Stockton (c.1635-1707).

So Ebenezer and Sarah married on 15 Nov 1820. Ebenezer died before May 16 or 17 of 1828 when Sarah is shown as a widow. Edward Stockton, brother of Ebenezer, appointed guardian of the three children.

Edward Stockton, Guardian of James Stockton, Helen M Stockton and Edward Stockton, Minors, heirs at law of Ebenezer Stockton deceased, son of James Stockton, reports to the Judges of the Orphans Court of the county of Mercer
                              
That in pursuance of their order granted at the term of December last, he advertised the lands so ordered to be sold, in five of the most public places in the county of Mercer for the space of two months previous to the time appointed for the sale there of, and did cause the time and place of the sale of said lands to be published in the Princeton Whig and Mercer County Advertiser, being one of the newspapers published and printed in this state and circulating in the neighborhood of said lands at least four weeks successively, once a week next preceding the time appointed for selling the same, and afterward, at the time and place so advertised, viz. on the twenty ninth day of August eighteen hundred and thirty nine, at the house of Abraham C. Schanck, in the Borough of Princeton in said county, all the right and title of the said minors did sell the same at public vendue to John S. Hart, he being the highest bidder, for the sum of four hundred dollars
