Louis A. Moody was the husband of Myrtle Mossieline (Childress) Moody and the father of Ellis Moody. He had 2 children from a previous marriage - Harrison B. Moody and George Moody. He founded the settlement of Moody, CA around 1900 (Mendocino County, near Indian Creek -
10 miles from Bear Harbor wharf; 6 miles from Andersonia), building a hotel and saloon, followed by a school and Post Office. A brother, Frank, resided in town with him. The town withered away around 1916 after an anticipated new mill (Anderson Lumber Company) was never completed and resulted in the immediate decline of the lumber shipping business that the settlement depended on.
