THOMAS, Victor (National Research Council - Retired)

Peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2010 at the age of 98. Beloved husband of of the late Alma Thomas (nee Zalizniak). Loving father, devoted grandfather. Predeceased by his sister Julia Lander and brother Roy Thomas. Will be dearly remembered by sisters-in-law Lydia Boykowich and Alexandra Semeniuk as well as many nieces and nephews and his cherished friends at the Heron Road Fitness Centre. Graduated with a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta followed by a Carnegie Grant Research Scholarship. An early career spanning research and management in industry was followed by many years at the National Research Council helping to improve small business operations. He continued to lecture, post retirement, at the University of Ottawa. Many hobbies, many more friends, he loved to bring his joy of life to all he met. Friends are invited to attend Visitation at the Central Chapel of Hulse Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor) Sunday, November 28, 2010 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel Monday, November 29 at 1:00 p.m. Contributions in memory of Victor may be made to a charity of your choice. www.mcgarryfamily.ca 613-233-1143.
