Martha M. (Lipps) Bryan, went home to be with the Lord August 14, 2017. Born August 15, 1932, to Lewis and Lenna (Bailes) Lipps of Wayne Twp. Martha lived her entire life in Wayne.
She married her high school sweetheart, Arden L. Bryan, June 1, 1950. They celebrated 66 years together.
Martha is survived by her children, Jackie Shilling of Jefferson, Teresa Jones of Wayne, Jeffrey Bryan of Dorset, and Janette "Jan" Bryan; sister, Shirley Siekkinen; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arden in 2016; son, Bruce Bryan in 2008; brothers, Lewis, Russell, and Charles Lipps; and her parents.
In high school, Martha was very active in school plays, choir, band, cheerleading and always worked hard. She started working switchboard when she was 10. Her children enjoyed her stories of school, working and life, especially her fall festivals, making apple butter, and sauerkraut. Martha drove bus for Pymatuning Valley School District for 34 years. If her children had a dollar for every time they heard that Martha was their favorite bus driver, they would be rich.
Martha was President of the Wayne Historical Society for many years. She was known for her apple pies, antiques, quilts, her great cooking, and for being a wonderful mom and grandma. She was hard working and mastered any project she attempted. Over the last year, she worked hard to have every Vietnam Veteran honored with the 50 year medal in honor of the memory of her son Bruce and to have them honored for their services.
She will be missed dearly, but we know we will see her again in Glory.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Wayne, 3222 SR 322, Williamsfield, Ohio. Calling hours will be held from 12:30PM until the time of service at 2PM. A private burial with her children will follow at the Hayes Cemetery in Wayne Twp.
