67, of Louisville, passed away on Saturday, August 12th, 2017 at his home.
Richard served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War before retiring in 1994. He worked for Brinks Armored Cars for 17 years, retiring in 2011. He loved spending time with his family, gardening, traveling the world, and golfing with his very close friend and fellow colleague, Smitty. He was known for his love of life, love of people, and love of laughing.
Richard was born Oct 2, 1949 in Jackson, NC, a son of the late Millard and Carrie Gay. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin Gay.
Survivors include his loving wife of 23 years Susan G. K. Gay; his children Carrie Gearing (Chris), Richard Gay Jr. (Kelly), Crystal Wilcoxon (Robert), Jackie Pallesen (Joen) and Jonathan Owens; his sister Nancy Stephenson; his ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held August 16, 2017 from 5pm-8pm at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Rd, East Louisville.
Funeral Service will be held at 12pm on August, 17, 2017 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Cavehill Cemetery.
Memorial gift in the form of contributions may be made to Kentucky Humane Society.
