SENECA, SC Pauline Anna (West) Schaeffer, 93, formerly of York, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2007, at Lila Doyle Nursing Care Facility in Seneca, S.C. She was the wife of the late Albert Schaeffer. Mrs. Schaeffer was born in York, on October 5, 1913, to the late John L. and Ella J. (Scott) West. Pauline retired from Dentsply International in 1971 after 24 years of service. She was a member of the A.A.R.P.; Dentsply Girl's Club; Farm Women Assoc.; and Four Five's of St. Luke United Methodist Church. She was a former member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and St. Luke United Methodist Church and the choir. She is survived by two sons, William E. Schaeffer of Seven Valleys and James A. Schaeffer of California; one daughter, Carolyn E. Leppo of South Carolina; three grandchildren, Debra Cagle of South Carolina, Scott Leppo of Florida, and Steven Schaeffer of Arizona; five greatgrandchildren; a sister, Betty Zeigler of York; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Final resting place will be in Mount Rose Cemeter.


Pauline was enumerated as Pauline Gladfelter in 1930 census and was listed as a step-daughter of John. When she was baptised in 1921 the surname of West was used as her 1920 census entry.
