He was born on February 26. 1913, in Monongalia County, a son of the late Andrew Jackson Hilling and Anna Belle McDonald Hilling. He was a member of the Beulah Free Methodist Church. An employee of National Coal Co, and a member of UMWA Local 4040. He was preceded in death by his first wife Agnes Eliza Kenner. He Is survived by the widow, Marian Florence Messenger Hilling and four brothers. Roy, Paul, Stanley, and Kenneth, all of Rt. 3; three sisters, Miss Mary Hilling and Mrs. Violet Murray of Rt. 3. and Mrs. Shirley Canter of Dellslow. Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home Friday 3 to 5 and 7to9 ; Saturday 10 to12, 3 to 5, and 7 to 9: Sunday from 10 to 11 a.m. when the body will be removed to the Beulah Church to lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m., the hour of services. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
