Elbert Smith, 93. of Bagley, died Monday, December 7, 2001, at Greensview Health Care Center, Bagley.

Elbert was born September 16, 1908, at Huron, S.D., the son of Palph and Winnie Smith. As a child he moved to Bagley. He attended county school. Elbert worked as a heavy equipment operator in North and South Dakota as well as in Alaska during World War II. He later farmed in Eddy Township, Clearwater County. Since 1999, he reised at Greensview Health Care Center

Elbert married Mabel Halvorson on August 21, 1934, in Bemidji. She preceded him in death on February 10, 1994.

Survivors include his two daughters, Mavis ( Sonny ) Berentson, of Bagley, Geraldine Young, of Bemidji; one son, Milo ( Betty ) Smith of Bagley; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters, three brothers; and one granddaughter.

Funeral services are Thursday, December 20, at 11 a.m. at cease Family Funeral Home, Bagley with Reverand Lyle Twite officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Internment will be at the Bagley City Cemetery. Cease Family Funeral HOme assisted the family with arrangements.
