Freda McCarter Farmer joined our Lord Jesus Christ on September 2, 2017 at the age of 75. She joins her beloved husband of 53 years, Clarance Stephen Farmer, who preceded her in 2013. Freda was born January 7, 1942 to James and Bernice McCarter in Sherman, Mississippi and enjoyed a beautiful childhood there surrounded by family and friends. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1959. She was a wonderful mother to her two children, Stephen and Michelle. She worked in various administrative roles including Day-Brite Lighting in Tupelo, and the Warren County School system and US Army Corps of Engineers in Vicksburg, Mississippi until her retirement. Freda enjoyed her family immensely and stayed busy and involved as the grandmother of 7 grandchildren. She also enjoyed her friends, church involvements, and travel. She has remained a faithful follower and servant of Christ throughout her life with her last 19 years as a member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sister Martha McCarter Sallis (Jack) of Spartanburg, SC, her children, Stephen Farmer (Susan) of Tupelo, MS and Michelle Caldwell (Tim) of Spanish Fort, AL; grandchildren Rachel Myers (Justin) of Pearl, MS; Sarah Farmer of Flowood, MS; Hannah Farmer of Tupelo, MS; Jay Caldwell of Spanish Fort, AL; Aaron Caldwell of Vicksburg, MS; Stephen Caldwell and Delane Caldwell of Spanish Fort, AL; her nieces and nephews; Jack (Lori) Sallis and Patti Crocker, of Spartanburg, SC; Michael (Kelly) Woods and Cindy Woods of Birmingham, AL.

A Service celebrating her life will be held at 12:30 PM Saturday at the West Jackson St. Baptist Church in Tupelo with Rev. Keith Cochran officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM-service time on Saturday only at the Church.

Pallbearers are Jay Caldwell, Aaron Caldwell, Stephen Caldwell, Justin Myers, Michael Woods and Jacob Harrison.
