Heinrich Carl Lenz (born April 4, 1827), son of Conrad and Anne Dorothee Biethan Lenz was a native of Broistedt, Braunschweig, Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1853. Heinrich married in Germany to Dorothea Sievers, (born July 1, 1826), and had a son:
1. John Henry (Strong City, KS.) married Mary E. Anderson and after her death, married second time to Bertha Turley, (nee) Dickson.
They then immigrated to the United States and settled at Carlinville, IL. There four more children were born, they were:
2. Katherine (Carlinville, IL.) married James Blockburger.
3. Minnie (Carlinville, IL) married George Ross.
4. Carl (Carlinville, IL. ) never married, died young.
5. Lena (Carlinville, IL.) married Edward Marko.

After his wife Dorothea Sievers died, Heinrich married Maria (Mary (nee) Kranewitter, (born 1841 in Hesse, Germany), who had one child, who was then adopted by Heinrich. She was:
6. Mary (Cheney, KS.) married William Wiske.
Five more children were born to Heinrich and Mary at Carlinville, IL. They were:
7. Christian D. (Mulvane, KS.) married Martha Mahlandt.
8. Augusta (Cheney, KS) married John Zerener.
9. Louis L. (Cheney, KS) married Anna Opitz.
10. Emma (Cheney, KS.) married Robert Schaar.
11. Emil H. (Mulvane, KS.) married Anna Mathilde Mahlandt.
After their farm flooded out several times in Illinois, they moved to Cheney, KS, in 1878, and bought the highest land in Sedgwick County. After moving there three more children were born, they were:
12. Elizabeth (Nashville, KS.) married William Kuehn.
13. George C. (Garden Plain, KS.) married Mary Hammersky.
14. Herman D (Cheney, KS.) married Ida Scheuman.
Heinrich and Mary farmed near Cheney, KS. Heinrich was killed in a wagon-team runaway on January 18, 1890, and is buried in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery at Cheney, KS. Upon her death in 1913, Mary was buried next to Heinrich, and the farm was sold.
