Funeral services for Lone Grove resident, Ronald "Ronnie" Giddens will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church conducted by Rev. David Gardner.  Burial will follow at the Dougherty Cemetery, with the assistance of Denny Meeks, Terry Busby, Aaron Morgan, Timmy Stinson, Stacy Ford and Sandy McCartney serving as pallbearers.
Ronnie was born to the late Christopher Carol Giddens and Omagene Hampton Giddens May 23, 1943 at Davis, Oklahoma.  He passed away Monday, September 4, 2017 at his Lone Grove residence.
A resident of Murray and Carter counties all of his life, Ronnie graduated from Sulphur High School, the class of 1963 and attended Murray State College.  He and the former Anita McMillan were married September 19, 1963 at Columbus, Kansas.  They would have celebrated their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary later this month.
A volunteer fireman at Springer for 20 years, Ronnie had worked for Dolese Brothers for fourteen years before being employed at Valero Refinery where he became a shift supervisor.  He retired from Valero in 2006 after thirty-five years of service.  A member of the Dougherty Baptist Church, he enjoyed watching westerns and OU football on television; he particularly loved the time spent with his grandsons and watching their sports.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Anita Giddens of the home; a son, Chris Giddens, of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Raye Lynn Geurin and her husband, Brian, grandsons, Cody and Clay Geurin all of Lone Grove; his sister, Jenene Clary and her husband, Billy, of Sulphur; brothers, Ray Giddens and wife, Barbara, of Davis; Sammy Giddens and wife, Carol of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Giddens in 2016; his parents-in-law, Grover and Eva McMillan; and a special aunt and uncle, Keith and Patsy Smith.
