Gladys Ardella Johnson Manning Pater passed away on September 8, 2017 in Sandy of congestive heart failure.

She was born November 6, 1921 in Salt Lake City to Arthur Rasmus Johnson and Margaret Mary Paulos Dornberger. She graduated from West High School in 1940.

In December 1941, Gladys married Max C. Manning in Yuma, Arizona. Max passed away in 1984. She married Jan Pater in Salt Lake City in February 1986.

Gladys was a lifelong member of the LDS Church. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening, sewing, cooking, music, and flying her American flag.

Gladys is survived by Lynn (Carolyn) Miller, their two children and spouse, and two grandchildren; Randal (Cheryle) Manning, their four children and spouses, and five grandchildren; and Michele (Jim) Hunt and their two children and spouses. She is preceded in death by Max in 1984; Jan in 2005; daughter, Carolyn, in 2014; both parents; and all siblings, Katherine Higley, Margaret Henry, Arthur Johnson, Joyce Taylor, and LeRoy Johnson.

The family gives a special thanks to Brighton Home Health and Hospice, as well as Sunrise Assisted Living in Sandy. You all genuinely received her as part of your family. The love and respect so freely given her cannot be repaid.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, with a visitation one hour prior.
Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
