Billy Lawrence, 83, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Monday, September 18, 2017 at Touchstone Healthcare Community.
Memorial Service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Reverend Dr. Jean Ziettlow of St. John's Lutheran Church in Le Mars will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Billy Lawrence was born February 18, 1934 in Flora, Illinois, the son of Jonnie and Hester (Tolliver) Lawrence. He was raised in Flora where he attended school and graduated from high school.
Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge, he returned to Illinois where he worked as a contractor for many telephone companies.
He was united in marriage to Marjory Miller on June 24, 1964 in Springfield, Illinois. They made their home in Illinois until 1977, when they moved to Le Mars. Billy continued to work as a contractor for area telephone companies. Marjory passed away October 31, 2003 in Le Mars. Billy continued to make his home in Le Mars until March of 2017, when he moved to Sioux City and lived at Prime Living.
He enjoyed watching football and baseball. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Survivors include two sons: Stacy (Shelly) Lawrence of Sioux City, Iowa and Shane (Katina) Lawrence; and a grandson: Brandon Lawrence and Tara of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjory; and two brothers: Roy Lawrence and Gary Lawrence.
