Mary Elizabeth Lewis Benson, age 77, of Hampstead died Saturday, September 17, 2005, in Forsyth, Georgia, where she was currently residing with her daughter. She was born April 19, 1928, in the Sloop Point Community of Pender County and was the daughter of the late IVEY WILLIAM LEWIS, SR. born August 1893 and died Novemer 26, 1955; and EVA B. KING LEWIS . Her siblings were IVEY WILLIAM LEWIS, JR. born in 1924; and VERNON KING LEWIS who was born in 1925. She was also predeceased by her husband, Eugene Charles Benson. Mrs. Benson was a member of Barlow-Vista Baptist Church and Goldenrod Chapter No. 142, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her daughter, Angela Benson Newman and her husband Keith of Forsyth, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
