NORTH SMITHFIELD - Adelard "Al" Provencal, 92, of Rhodes Ave., North Smithfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, September 17th, at Hospice St. Antoine in North Smithfield.
He was the beloved husband of the late Blanche (Grassini) Provencal for 65 years. He was born in Woonsocket, RI, a son of the late Aimee and Rose Delima (Berger) Provencal.
He was a construction worker for Bella Construction in MA for many years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed long drives with his wife and loved being with and enjoying his grandchildren.
He was a World War II US Navy Veteran serving in the South Pacific. He was honored in 2013 by attending the Honors Flight to Washington, D.C. and visited Arlington National Cemetery where he met and shook hands with Colin Powell and many other dignitaries.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Christine Chenail and her husband Roland Chenail who was like a son. He was also the father of Richard Provencal and the late David Provencal.
He was the loving grandfather of Melissa and Gary Chenail and brother of his late sisters, Rose, Victoria and Angelina and his late brother Albert Provencal. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at 11 AM in the St. Antoine Chapel, 10 Rhodes Avenue, North Smithfield. Visitation is respectfully omitted. Burial in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery will be private.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Egido DiPardo and Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Avenue, Woonsocket, RI.
